Burnout legend Peter Grmusa is $50,000 richer after taking out the Pro Burnout Championship at Street Machine Summernats 37. The runners-up were Scott Yates in YATESZ and Bryan Smilie in TIPNIN.
Peter last took out the big one at Summernats 26, having won the Burnout Championship twice on the trot at Nats 19 and 20.
Peter made a monster amount of smoke straight off the start line in KINGXA, followed by a delightfully angry tip- in. He flew across the burnout pad, manoeuvring the XA around the exit and entry chutes, making sure to send the Falcon to all corners of the pad.
Bryan Smilie managed a smashing third-place finish in TIPNIN, ripping out a total of three
skids after fighting his way through the ranks from the Wildcard Shootout.
Scott Yates was last to hit the pad in YATESZ. That didn’t stop him from taking the silver in
his blown Commodore.
The group of Pro Burnout Series contenders brought their A-game, with plenty of thrills and barely any spills. Mick Brasher, who put on an epic skid in ULEGAL but tapped the wall toward the end of his run. Tim Brown kicked off the pro class in CEMBLO, and while he didn’t snag a podium spot, he set the tone early, firing up the fans in the grandstands to claim fifth spot.
The crowd got rowdy when Jake Myers came out in S1CKO as he flew across the pad to claim fourth.
