LAST Saturday saw the official opening of Jason and Amanda Waye’s new Muscle Garage workshop in St Marys, South Australia. Due to the popularity of Tuff Mounts engine and gearbox mounts, along with a number of other great products, an increase in production saw the need for Muscle Garage to move to larger premises. Well there’s that, and the fact that Jason keeps finding cool cars to buy!
At the shop’s open day there were a number of great cars on display, as well as the new showroom full of products for enthusiasts to check out. Jason’s previously featured Hemi-powered LJ Torana Sports Sedan sat up the front, across from Harry’s ex-Queen Street Smash BMW drag car and Simeon Mortimer’s very tidy SS ute.
The Muscle Garage team has a passion for old race cars, and has recently been working on the ex-Pete Geoghegan HQ coupe, which was campaigned back in the mid-70s and featured some pretty trick aero and suspension ideas at the time. Jason and the team are currently doing a full driveline restoration on the car and hope to have it ready sometime this year.
Out the front, the Tuff Mounts-supported Commodore & Classic Holden Enthusiasts Club had some great cars on display and were signing up new members.
The new Tuff Mounts Drag Challenge build, FOXSAKE, a Barra-powered Fox-body Mustang, was on display too, and looked closer to completion.
Another Barra-powered weapon, Mark Boxer’s HoonTV XH Falcon drag ute, is also getting close to firing up after a long-term build.
Geof Tartoosie’s BLOWN32 rod was looking neat and gave a nice touch of old-school cool next to Geoff Bowra’s wicked LSA-powered ’55 Chev coupe.
Dwayne Vaccaro’s crazy green chrome-wrapped Mercedes burnout car was looking the part and is almost ready for action. He’s hoping to do his debut skid at Summernats 33!
Two recent additions to the Muscle Garage collection are a very neat VR 215i Senator and a now-rare SVO-built EA Falcon.
Be sure to check out the new Muscle Garage/Tuff Mounts workshop if you’re in the Adelaide area, or visit their website at musclegarage.com.au.
