With two weeks of inclement weather forecast, the NDRC has moved to reschedule the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway to May 17-19.

All the registered Top Fuel teams have confirmed they’re racing, as has XPRO Nitro Funny Cars and we’re confident of full fields of Doorslammer, Pro Stock, Pro Mod and the Aeroflow Sportsman Championship.

All tickets and race entries purchased remain valid for the new dates. All spectator and competitor purchasers will receive an email with this information as well as instructions on what to do if they’re unable to attend.

The National Drag Racing Championship is taking the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs new heights in 2024, in what is shaping up to be Australia’s biggest nitro fuelled drag racing event.

In a first, Sydney Dragway has handed over the running of the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs to the NDRC. The NDRC team has made their mark already, introducing a number of initiatives to ensure an action-packed event from start to finish.

For the first time as part of the NDRC, Top Fuel will be joined by the XPRO Nitro Funny Cars as co-headliners. The Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs will see the XPRO Funny Cars racing to 1000ft for the first time.

Top Fuel is running two rounds of its championship at the Nitro Champs, with three all-run rounds of racing on both Saturday and Sunday.

These 11,000hp nitro-breathing monsters will be joined on-track by Top Doorslammers, Pro Stock, FuelTech Pro Mod and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship, with an incredible entry list of more than 280 entries confirmed – more than 70 of which are Group One and Group Two racers.

Also set to take the entertainment to ‘new heights’ is Australia’s own Red Bull Air Race world champion and former Royal Australian Air Force top gun fighter pilot, Matt Hall. Matt will be bringing his Aussie built display plane and tonnes of airborne excitement to the event, landing his incredible aircraft on the Sydney Dragway strip before launching down the quarter mile and putting on a spectacular aerobatic display like nothing ever seen before in the air above the iconic venue.

“From Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car thundering down the track, the first time they will compete in the NDRC side-by-side as co-headliners, to Matt Hall soaring overhead, DJs pumping out the music in the pits, and a fully stocked line-up of Top Doorslammers, Pro Stockers, Fuel Tech Pro Mod and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship, the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs is going to be the biggest show in town.
