Drag Challenge 2023 Day Four

Rain beat us on day four of Drag Challenge, but we're ready for a massive day at Dragway at the Bend!

Today, our Street Machine Drag Challenge crew were supposed to be racing at South Coast Raceway, in Portland, Victoria. It is a great eighth-mile track, run by a fantasic club. The guys have spent the last week preparing the track, but it was all in vain, with persistant rain stopping the party.

Racers were still required to check in at the track and show their photos of the previous day’s checkpoint. We then gave them them their final route map and they left on thei 470km journey to Tailem Bend. Today’s checkpoint was in Kingston home to the Big Lobster.

Tomorrow’s racing is set to be action-packed. Mark Drew and Mark Whitla will be duking it out for outright honours, with four cars that have been in the sevens waiting in the wings to pounce if given the opportunity.

There are also some ding-dong battles in the other classes, especially in Speed Pro Six Cylinder and Carange 9.5 Radial.

Tickets are available online, which will save you a few bucks and will get you through the gates quicker. There are a limited number of spots left in the Shannons Show & Shine. This will be located around the scrutineering sheds as shown below. Gates open to spectators from 8am, racing from 10am-4pm.

All up, our Drag Challenge survivors will have competed 1700km during the week, proving their street car status beyond doubt.
