AFTER a two year hiatus, Chopped is back and kicked off today in Carisbrook, Victoria.

The event was born on a footy oval in Newstead in 2008, with the aim to create an event for traditional rods, customs and bikes. Chopped soon moved to the local racecourse where the infamous dirt drags were added to the menu.

From there, the event grew fast and inspired similar events around the country. The 2016 was smashed by rain and while those of us in attendance had a ball, the organising crew decided to take a break.

And now, they’re back and with a new venue at the Carisbrook Racecourse. The dirt drags have been replaced with tarmac drags, meaning wheelstands and burnouts are now firmly on the agenda.

The rest of the Chopped formula remains the same, including a stellar music lineup, headlined by Japan’s 5.6.7.8s (as seen Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill) and the mighty The Chats famed for their song, Smoko.

The event cranks up in earnest tomorrow and rocks on until Sunday arvo. For more info, checkout the website here.
