A highlight for many from the Shannons Unveils at Meguiar’s MotorEx was Brett Fletcher’s WILD K HK GTS Monaro. When the car met the wall at Powercruise a few years back, Brett saw it as an opportunity to step things up a bit, engaging the team at ProFlo Performance to re-do the rear end and tub the car for wider rubber.

The problem was, they did such a neat job that the rest of the car suddenly looked a little bit average, and so began a ground-up rebuild. The finished product is drop-dead stunning, retaining the factory aesthetic with beautifully Inca Gold paint applied by MacArthur Autobody, and full GTS splendour on the inside with OEM-style Parchment interior by X-Trim, and air-conditioning for occupant comfort.

But that’s where the factory stuff ends. “The car is a genuine GTS, but I bought a 186 car because I knew I was going to cut it up,” grinned Brett. The ProFlo gang fabricated a full rear clip and four-link cradling a sheetmetal diff, and tubbed the car to allow for 15x10in Alpha-1 Welds and 295-wide Mickey Thompsons.

Up front there’s a modified Rod Shop IFS front end to further assist in bringing the car’s handling into the 21st century, complete with power rack-and-pinion steering.

Under the hood is a 427ci Dart-blocked LS, ably assisted by an 88mm BorgWarner snail in producing 1200hp on E85.

“Ronny at MacArther Autobody and Paul and Sam at ProFlo have really restored my love for the car,” said Brett. “I think we’ve got something pretty special.”
