Lovers of insane criminally insane utes shed a tear when production of the Hellcat-powered RAM 1500 TRX production ended in 2023, thanks to creeping US emissions regs and Stellantis’s move towards electrification. Almost 1000 units were sold downunder, despite the rig’s eye-watering sticker price.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa announced a backflilp on the TRX in late 2025 and to our surprise, RAM Australia has declared this week that Australia and New Zealand will score limited numbers of the new 1500 TRX SRT model.

The new version is rated at 777hp (579kW) and 680 lb-ft (922Nm) of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four. And Stellantis are claiming a 3.5-second 0-60mph time and a 12.2-second quarter mile.

The new TRX will be priced at $259,950 before on-roads – $10,000 more than the TRX Final Edition that saw the model out last time. And that’s almost $100,000 more than the highest-priced Ram 1500 you can currently in Australia.

“We know there is a lot of passion for the TRX in Australia, which is why we have worked hard to secure production out of the US for our market,” said Ram Trucks Australia general manager Jeff Barber.

“Supply of the new TRX will initially be restricted because demand is off the charts in the US, however, the factory has been incredibly supportive of the Australian market, and we are pleased to confirm the TRX is coming back.”

Those of you with deep pockets can expect the TRX SRT to land in Aussie showrooms in the first half of 2027.
