Luke Terbeeke
Ford XW Falcon

“I bought my XW about two years ago, after looking for one for about five years – it’d been my dream since I was a teenager to have a tough XW or XY.

“I’m slowly getting there with this one, modifying it as an 18-year-old me would have liked to have done, but doing it properly like the current 41-year-old me can do.

“The principle of the build is ‘do it once, do it properly’. So far that has included replacing all the suspension and steering, wheels, cooling system and diff.

“Some of the best times I’ve had in it are picking my son up from school and seeing all the other kids stare at it.

“I plan on entering Drag Challenge in it in 2027, and Street Machine Summernats, just for some fun! The car sure brings a smile to the 18-year-old me!”

Bayley Capelinha
Holden LH Torana

“Just a few months ago, my dad and I finished our 1975 LH Torana SL.

“I bought it as a mismatched-panel beater back in 2011 for $500, but we didn’t start the build on it until 2017.

“All the wheelarches were intact, having had no flares fitted.

“We did 95 per cent of the build in the single-car back shed at home, with every nut and bolt replaced or refurbished. It was repainted in the original Contessa Gold.

“Considering Dad and Mum had a few different LH and LX Toranas when they were younger, it’s pretty cool to now have my own.”

Brenton English
Holden VE Commodore SS-V

“I have a fond memory of my mate’s dad picking us up in his new VY ClubSport when I was around eight or nine years old. I remember thinking, when I grow up, I need one of these!

“When I was 19 and about to come off my P-plates, I was scouring Facebook Marketplace and CarSales every day and night to find my dream car, and two weeks before getting my open licence, I came across this 2007 VE SS-V in near-new condition with under 50,000km on the clock.

“The thing that sold me on it was the big lumpy cam idle – I had to have it!

“Fast-forward 11 years, and it’s become what it is today.

“It’s been a slow process, with a few small mods here and there as I could afford them. It’s still a stock-bottom-end engine, but with a head and cam package and boosted by a Vortech V-3 JT-spec supercharger jamming 12psi down its throat.

“It’s making 720hp at the wheels. It’s a load of fun with the manual transmission and makes all the right noises!”

Sam Viglione
FG-X Falcon G6E

“I have built a stock 2015 FG-X G6E into this E85-guzzling, 720hp beast, powered by a six-pot with a PSR3584 Gen 3 turbo!

“I flew from Queensland to Albury-Wodonga to view the car, and driving it home, I knew it needed some more boost, so that’s what I did, with some help from the old man and with most of the major work being done at Precision Performance & Mechanical in Hillcrest, Queensland.

“It’s now way quicker than the manual FG ute I used to own. We are looking to head to Willowbank to run some times, and I plan on doing a lot of roll racing, too.”

Jayden Cornish
Holden VP Commodore

“I’m 21 years old, and I have always had a passion for old Holdens.

“I got lucky with this 1993 VP Executive, which I picked up from Bribie Island in Queensland off a 94-year-old lady who’d owned it since new.

“Since then, I’ve added the sun visor, venetians, HDT light covers and a few more of my own touches.

“Last year, I took it to Tamworth Tyre Torture and placed in the Top 5.

“I would like to put a carby 5.0L in it and have it as a tough street car once I’m off my Ps. But in the meantime, I have been slowly building a V8-powered VH sedan, which I swapped my HQ ute with my brother for five years ago.

“Some may say that was a dumb trade, but I don’t regret it, as I love my Commodores!”
