“I can’t go anywhere in this little Moke without getting stopped. I also drive a Porsche, but this thing gets more attention than you could ever believe!

“I’ve had it at Summernats the past four or so years, and I love entering it in the driving events – it’s like a hyper little go-kart!

“It actually won the driving events a few years ago, but this year, the new LSD I’d put in it threw me a bit, so that’ll take some time to get used to.

“As for the engine, it has what they call the ‘twinkie’ conversion: a 1275 A-series motor with a BMW K1200RS motorbike cylinder head, so it’s now a twin-cam, 16 valve-headed combo.

“The capacity has been pushed out to around 1340cc, and it’s controlled by a MicroTech EFI ECU, although that’s getting upgraded to a Haltech Elite 750 shortly.

“I did all the work on the car myself, including the paint, as I’m a panel beater by trade. And speaking of that, by the time the next Summernats rolls around, it’ll hopefully be wearing a fresh new House of Kolor orange.

“I’m also building an original Mini body dropped onto a shortened Subaru Liberty chassis with EJ Subaru power, so that’ll make it to the event too when it’s eventually finished.”
