Nathan Hartigan
Holden VH Commodore

“This is my VH Commodore I’ve been building for the past four years, undertaking a full bare-metal rotisserie job, fixing all the rust and smoothing the engine bay.
“It has a built and shortened diff, Turbo 400 transmission, and an LS1 with the heads and cam done and the whole Haltech catalogue to go with it.

“I will be sending it to paint soon, then putting it all together ready for engineers and street rego.”
Daniel Erceg
1938 Chevy Pick-up

“This is my 1938 Chev pick-up, which runs a cammed LS, airbags all ’round, and a custom boxed chassis to get it nice and low.

“The plan was to keep it ratty as you see it now. I found the cab under a tree in Western Australia, while the front guards, grille and all that I already had lying around.

“I’ve built the whole truck myself, except the motor, which I had a mate go through. I’m hoping to have it finished off this year in amongst other projects.”
James & Amelia Park
1978 Ford F100

“Our 1978 F100 is a work in progress. Amelia has always dreamed of having an F-truck, which I can appreciate too, because who doesn’t love a slammed old-school truck with a carb and chugging V8?
“We were lucky to acquire a ’78 F100 ‘dentside’ short-wheelbase in late 2024. It ticked all the boxes – short wheelbase, with a 351 Clevo, C6 transmission and 9in rear end. So far we have stripped her down and started to corral parts.

“Any project requires a good base, and we have just finished stripping, treating and painting the chassis ready to build from there. Like any F-truck, we have some rust in the body – luckily it’s only in the roof and firewall. And we’re very lucky that Amelia’s dad is a panel beater, so he’ll guide us through that phase of the build, as extensive bodywork like that is something I haven’t done before.

“A mild engine build, lower stance and refreshed interior is on the horizon. The ultimate goal is to have a weekend cruiser sporting an OEM plus-style driveline, interior and look.”
Nick Sutton
Ford AU Falcon ute

“My AU ute started out as a bomb I bought to blow some tyres at a mate’s buck’s show. I had planned on blowing up the engine that night, but four years later, the same donk is still going strong after much abuse.
“In the past couple of years I have put a big Crow Cams camshaft and valve springs in, and it’s running a Haltech Elite 750 with a complete rewire from scratch. It has a big fuel system, too, because it’s now running on E85.

“I built the tray myself from scraps lying around, and also painted it myself in the carport at home. It’s sitting on a set of genuine Convo Pros to give it that tough look. I am currently in the process of adding an L67 M90 supercharger and converting it over to methanol.

“Future plans include swapping in an auto ’box and having the interior trimmed.”
Robert Audsley
Chrysler VC Valiant

“This is my 1966 VC Valiant in the build. I have had her for about six years, purchased out of a backyard collection. What was supposed to be a 12-month hibernation in the seller’s backyard became almost five years of neglect.

“I now have her home to start undoing what had previously been done to her. It’s a big job, but when she’s done she’ll be running a single-turbo 318 small-block Chrysler V8 and auto, while the rest of the car will stay or be converted back to original, with a few body improvements.
“I have my two daughters lending a hand when they can, so it’s been a great experience so far.”
Daniel Watts
Ford XR Falcon

“Here’s my 1967 XR Falcon. My grandfather owned it from 1972, when he bought it from a mate who was its first owner from new.
“My grandfather worked for a Ford dealership at the time and did the pre-delivery on the car. I still have the books with his sign-off for the delivery of it, which is very rare and cool.
“The car has always remained registered but had accumulated a fair bit of rust over time. I had planned to fix the rust and keep driving it, but every time some paint was taken off, more and more rust showed through.

“So, I pulled the pin and got it stripped completely and fixed properly. I have removed the original driveline but kept it all aside, and now it has a 347ci hottie, C4 ’box and a 9in, with all new wiring and a PDM.
“Hopefully it should be on the road later this year!”
