Turbocharged Fords take to the drag strip at Heathcote for Ford Forum Nats

TURBO LS combos might be all the rage at the moment, but there are still plenty of guys out there screwing boost into their Ford donks. We came across a few surprise packets at the Ford Forums Nationals at Heathcote Park a few weekends ago running quick times.

One of those was Paul Librio’s twin-turbo 351 Clevo-powered F100 pick up running on LPG and hitting mid twelves with street tyres on its first ever track session. Paul daily drives the car and is itching to develop it further and possibly take on Street Machine Drag Challenge later this year.

Paul’s good mate Tim Rhone who helped him out with the F100 combo drives a ’66 XP Falcon coupe with a similar twin-turbo setup but on ordinary pump juice. Tim’s XP runs a 363-cube small-block Ford with Garrett GT35s on 15psi. His PB in the car is a 10.30 @ 140mph.

Kris Van Krieken had his budget-built Barra-powered ED Falcon PSIPOP out to play at the Ford Forum Nats. The 4.0-litre Ford unit has Mahle pistons, spool rods, ARP main and head studs, billet oil pump gears and it’s topped off by a hefty GT42R turbo. Kris turned up the wick at the Ford Forum drags and set a new PB of 9.2 @ 155mph, but it came at the cost of hurting the Powerglide transmission.

Check out the video to see all three of these boosted Fords in action at Heathcote Park Raceway.
