Richard Rawlings Hellcat crash at Roadkill Nights

Richard Rawlings hits the wall while racing NHRA Top Fuel pilot Leah Pritchett

TV host Richard Rawlings has put a Dodge Challenger Hellcat into the wall while racing at the Roadkill Nights event in Detroit, Michigan.

Rawlings was racing NHRA Top Fuel pilot Leah Pritchett in a celebrity drag race and opted to powerskid for the crowd, with predictable results.

2018 is the fourth installment of Roadkill Nights, which began in the parking lot of the Pontiac Silverdome and now sees legal street racing down the famed Woodward Avenue.

Woodward’s claims to fame are many, including being the place where the first-ever ticket for street racing was issued, way back in 1895. And in 1909, one mile of Woodward was paved, becoming the first paved road in the country.

During the late 1950s and the 1960s, Woodward was the hottest spot for cruising and street racing in the US, even attracting engineers from the Big Three.

Woodward has been the site of the massively-successful Woodward Dream Cruise since 1995.
