The Holden-Powered Nationals at Heathcote Raceway last weekend was supposed to be all about the classic ‘plastic’ Holden V8, but we couldn’t resist checking out Cameron Jones’s ANGRYT HT Holden.
The car was originally purchased as a rough six-pot sedan for $150 about eight years ago. But since then Cameron has gone right through the car and fitted a 403ci LS combo with a Holley Hi-Ram intake and a pair of 725cfm Pro Systems carbs along with freshening the Oasis Green paint and original green bench seat trim. The donk runs on E85 and still runs a hydraulic roller cam; with a TH350 and nine-inch drive train the old Holden has run 10.1@137mph, before the Nationals anyway.
Running in the Outlaw class at the Holden Nationals, Cameron came oh-so-close to a nine-second pass with a string of 10.0 second runs. The lack of a roll cage means that Cameron will have to keep trying his luck at Heathcote for that nine-second pass.
If the HT looks familiar, we had a chat to Cameron at Performance Car Mania last year. You can see that video here.
