DRAG Week 2018 was set to have a bumper field of Aussie racers, but some problems with US customs has meant that three cars and an engine won’t make it to the event on time. The stuck cars are Jamie Farmer’s Dirty Bird Falcon ute, Ben Paganoni’s F6 ute and Tanya Thompson’s VH Commodore. The engine? That belongs to Robbie Abbot and was destined to be slid into the 1983 Chev Malibu wagon dubbed Malibu Stacey.
The good news is that Robbie has sourced another engine and Jamie has sourced a whole new car! A number of local racers offered Jamie a replacement car to buy or borrow, but he opted for Michael Garland’s 1985 Mustang. The car is set up with a mild Windsor and a small nitrous kit. Michael runs the car in the low 12-second zone on hard street rubber, but Jamie is going to up the ante with drag radials and try to get the Fox Body into the 11s for Drag Week.
After Drag Week, Jamie is shipping Dirty Bird home so it can compete in Street Machine Drag Challenge. And he’s planning to bring the Muzzy back too and drop a twin-turbo Coyote motor in it!
