WHILE FPV and HSV fans pointlessly argue over who has the most powerful sedan around, Dodge have jumped into the fray and given them both a roundhouse kick to the face – Chuck Norris style!
HSV claims 430kW (576hp), while FPV claims 351kW plus up to 15% overboost (470hp to 541hp), but Dodge have announced their new Hellcat Charger will have 707hp, which equates to 528kW. That makes it the most powerful regular production sedan in the world. Game Over!
This is all thanks to a supercharged and intercooled 6.2-litre Hemi V8 that Chrysler have created for their Hellcat Challenger, and in true hot rodder fashion they decided to drop it into the four-door Charger.
Unfortunately the Dodge Charger is unlikely to see our shores and that pretty much eliminates any chance we’ll see Hellcat Chargers adorning Chrysler-Jeep showrooms. But it’s nice to dream.
Ford and Holden marketing teams should watch the video and take notes on how to market a performance car. Cue Motley Crue, cue racetrack, cue burnouts – fade to black.
