It’s not often that an Aussie performance-car icon turns up for sale in virtually untouched condition, but fans of the HSV VL SS Group A Walkinshaw now have the chance to get their hands on one.

With only 20km on the clock from new, this Walky may well be the lowest-kilometre car of its kind to reach the market since production commenced in 1988.

#082 of the 749 Walkys produced, the car rolled off the line on July 11, 1988, before being delivered to Canowindra Motors. It stayed at the dealer until March 1991, when it was purchased by its first owner for $36,000 in cash – a good buy when you consider the model originally had an RRP of $45,000 before on-roads.

#82 was never fitted with the lower front splitter, side skirts and rear bumper and all these pieces are still wrapped from factory – as are almost of the interior goodies.

According to the listing, “during the early years of ownership, the car was occasionally started and idled to temperature. It was subsequently preserved by periodically turning the engine over by hand, keeping the internal components moving without regularly running the engine.”

About the only non-OG part on the car is the battery, but even then the orginal comes with car!

The Walkinshaw has remained within the same family throughout its life and so comes with a stack of documentation, including the HSV factory release form, the dealership’s inspection report, the original dealer registration certificate, its NSW rego plates and the sales contract.

The current published auction record sits at $380,000 for chassis #333 in 2018. Car #339 was touted for over $1 million in 2021, with no published sale price

In June this year, #285 sold for $209,000 plus fees, with more than 45,000km on the odo and #304 is currently listed at Seven 82 Motors for $330,000 with 15,685km on the dial.
