Victorian Motorsports Park is gearing up for a big few weeks, with the Street Machine Drag Challenge presented by VPW and Castlemaine Rod Shop Invitational heading to Knowsley across October and November.

The run of events will bring championship drag racing, some of Australia’s toughest street cars and top-level burnout competition back to the region, with racers, crews and spectators will travel from across Victoria and interstate.
For local motorsport fans, it’s a chance to see major drag racing and burnout events return to Central Victoria, with two very different forms of competition set to take over VMP across the Spring calendar.
VMP’s redevelopment reached a major milestone last Sunday, when the venue officially reopened for its Grand Opening Test & Tune. Upgrades to the drag strip, burnout and drift facilities, pits, power infrastructure and spectator amenities were on full display, with 80 cars successfully hitting the track.

John Ricca, co-owner and spokesperson of Victorian Motorsports Park, said the team is excited to welcome the upcoming events to the venue after months of work bringing the facility back to life.
“We’ve done a lot of work on this place, and the first cars successfully ran on it on the weekend at our Grand Opening event. It’s fantastic to see it all come together, and these are exactly the kind of events this track was built for. We’re looking forward to seeing the place full.”
The first cab off the rank is Street Machine Drag Challenge presented by VPW heads to DC heartland with VMP hosting three huge days of action from 26–27 and 31 October!

300+ of Australia’s toughest street cars kick of the event on Monday 26 October with Test & Tune and Day 1 racing, before returning to VMP for its Day 5 final showdown on Saturday 31 October. Day 5 is set to be massive with night racing, Show ’N’ Shine, festival rides and plenty more bringing the infamous part-race, part-road-trip event to a massive finale!
With competitors and their cars rolling through the venue across the week, there’ll be plenty happening both on and off the track.
The Spring run finishes with a cloud of tyre smoke on Saturday 21 November, when 50 hand-picked burnout cars line up for the Castlemaine Rod Shop Invitational.

With $20,000 on the line, along with Pro Burnout Series Grand Final tickets and a wildcard spot, there is plenty at stake for the drivers chasing a place at the Summernats 39 Grand Final.
Out There Group spokesperson Adrian Hodgson says the three events are set to give Central Victorian fans a taste of Aussie championship motorsports.
“We’re really looking forward to bringing these events to VMP,” Hodgson said.
“It’s going to be a big few weeks for the region, and we’re looking forward to seeing racers and fans get amongst it. It’s an exciting time to be a Victorian motorsport fan!”
