Update:

Entries for the support classes for the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings Aussie tour have opened today, with a stack of toughies already sticking their hands up. You can check out the classes and rules below.

The list of Aussie racers selected by Discovery Channel to race the US stars has yet to be announced.

Outlaw Index Clases
There are only two rules: run your index, any faster you are out! And no throttle stops. Any tyre, any power addeer and combination.

General Rules for Each Class.
1. The racemaster has final say in all calls and discrepancies.
2. All races will be 1/8th mile, heads up, from a dig.
3. No times will be shown and no time slips will be given.
4. This is a NO PREP race. The racemaster will have sole discretion as to all maintenance done to the surface of the track.
5. All racers must attend a mandatory drivers meeting before each round. During the drivers meeting the racemaster will go over the rules and do pairings.
6. Pairings and lane choice will be decided with a chip draw.
7. Each racer can only draw one BYE. Competition byes do not count towards this.
8. The timing system will be determined by the racemaster. The racemaster will relay the specifics of the timing system during the drivers meeting.
9. If you jump, you lose. The red light means the race is over and the win is automatically given to the other driver. Chase is NOT a race.
10. WATER burnout only. Racemaster will make final decision if need be. The drivers can burnout past the starting line.
11. Crossing the center line will result in disqualification, unless the race is over.
12. If a piece of your car comes off and goes into the other lane IN FRONT of your competitor you lose, unless the race is over.
13. There will be ONE 10 minute call to the lanes. When the time between rounds is up, you must be in the staging lane or you can be disqualified.
14. All cars must pass track safety inspection and meet the class rules outlined on the next page. Driver is required to wear all required safety gear, according to track policies. Track staff will have final say on safety inspection and must sign off on the tech card before a racer makes a pass down the track.
15. Engine diapers mandatory for all classes
16. All cars must have ANDRA, NHRA or IHRA chassis certification
17. Engine Diapers mandatory .

Update, 15 December:

Farmtruck and AZN have stuck the original Farmtruck in a container and are heading back to Australia to take part in the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings Aussie tour.

The duo have been to Australia twice before. At Street Machine Summernats 30, the boys came without a car of their own, but got right in the thick of it anyway, including a cruise in the Carnage Mazda MX-5.

Then they returned for Summernats 31 in 2018, this time in a replica Farmtruck built especially for burnouts. Check out what went down here.

Fingers crossed a big swag of Aussie racers get to take the boys on during the tour, no-prep style.

The list of Aussies taking on the American NPK stars has yet to be announced, but a number of our top radial racers have been busy converting their cars to a big tyre set up, including John Ricca.

The story to here, 13 December:

The names of the US Street Outlaws No Prep Kings racers heading to Australia next year have been revealed:

  • Scott Taylor (no, not that one)
  • Disco Dean
  • Robin Roberts
  • Jerry Bird
  • Lizzy Musi
  • Kye Kelley
  • Ryan Martin
  • Justin Swan
  • Shawn Ellington
  • And Jeff Lutz, who has visited Australia before.

This will be the biggest tour of high profile US drag racers to Australia since the Wild Bunch tours of the early 90s saw the likes of Camp Stanley, Kirk Kuhns, John Scialpi, Johnny Rocca and Scotty Cannon go head to head with the Aussie stars of the day.

The first big tour of US drag stars to Australia was Dragfest in 1966, which played a massive part in the expansion of the sport. Will the Street Outlaws tour have a similar effect? We can’t wait to find out.

The story to here, 11 December 2022

Some big news to wake up to on a Sunday, with the announcement at the PRI Show that Discovery Channel’s Street Outlaws No Prep Kings crew will be touring Australia in 2023.

Word is that the 10 American cars will need to be an a boat within the week to make the rumoured late January/February time frame for kick off.

10 Aussie cars will be hand-picked to take on the yanks, though we hear it will not be the same 10 at each track.

Racing will happen at four tracks, Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Sydney Dragway, Willowbank Raceway and Perth Motorplex (February 24-25).

The rumour mill is in overdrive about who the Aussie contenders will be, but word is a Top Doorslammer legend is putting a combination together for the tour as we speak. As well top-shelf players in the Aussie Pro Radial scene.

Calder Park Drag Racing’s Peter Pisalidis provided more info on Facebook this morning:

“The interest and excitement is what you would expect and the phones and messages are going crazy as this is the biggest thing to happen in Drag Racing in Australia, probably ever!

“Information on specifics will be put out as the smoke settles over the next week or so, however in the mean time touch base with your local liaison if you would like to be included in the race match up:

  • Perth: Simon Travaglini & Ray Treasure
  • Willowbank: Terry Seng
  • Sydney: Craig Burns
  • Calder Park: Frank Marchese

“As a guide there will be a NPK USA vs AUS call out type line up and those cars have to be approved by the organisers. There will also be classes based on big tyre, small tyre, and one open to a mixture of competition vehicles.

“All numbers will be capped and at the descretion of the show. If you would like to be included in the line up, please touch base with one of the persons above and as more information can be released you will be kept in the loop.”

Of course, many of the heavy-hitters on the Aussie scene have deep ties in the Street Outlaws world, including Dale Heiler who tunes a bunch of Street Outlaws cars.

So who would be your choice of Aussie racers to defend our national honour? Let us know in the comments.
