Younan and Eddie Khazi’s gorgeous XE Fairmont Ghia wowed punters at Street Machine
Summernats 36 with its stonking 1300hp turbo Barra, subtle gold leaf detailing and classy
pseudo-factory vibe. It proudly graces the cover of the April 2024 issue of Street Machine,
along with Eddie’s other car – a monumentally tough HQ Monaro!
Purists be damned, because JETHQ is a ridgey-didge GTS coupe that’s now powered by a
1700rwhp, twin-turbo big-block. It’s a genuinely street-driven car that’s destined to see action
at Drag Challenge in the future.
Another star of the show from the Summernats 36 Elite Hall, Jason MacKenzie’s ’67
Camaro, is a stone-cold stunner with the grunt to back it up – over 1000hp at the treads on a
lowly 9psi of boost from the blown, injected fat-block.
For the Mopar faithful, we have an exquisite Dodge Charger pro-tourer from legendary US
car crafters Ringbrothers, with Hemi Hellephant power onboard.
Monique O’Garr’s awesome EH wagon and Jason Hannam’s LX Torana are a pair of
beautifully built, exceptionally well-detailed Holden streeters which have pulled many a
trophy between them, while Chris Courouzou’s ZD Fairlane could be a stunningly restored
stocker, were it not for the delightfully tough pro-street stance and screaming tunnel-rammed
Clevo.
There’s also coverage from a couple of great events: the grand opening of Warwick
Dragway’s new quarter mile strip, and the inaugural Taildragger Kustom Invitational, for
lovers of fine customs.
We have a great tech yarn digging into the relative pros and cons of different types of
surface coatings, from powdercoat to chrome, anodising and hydrodipping, to help you
decide what works best for the various parts on your project.
And we’ll have all your favourite regulars, including a mega-cube Torque-Power Big Paw-
blocked Holden V8 as your Mill of the Month.
The April 2024 issue of Street Machine is on sale now. Get ’em while they’re hot!
