EACH week, we scour the outer limits of Facebook to find the most delectable automotive offerings up for sale. Got a tip? Flick it to us in an email here.
BEL DE JOUR
THIS ’53 Chev Bel Air is up for grabs for $32,500, and man, it is a sweet-looking thing. Under the bonnet is the classic Blue Flame six, hopped up with electronic ignition, a mild cam, head work, four-barrel carb and a full twin system. Matched to a Powerglide, she won’t be a rocket, but who cares when you look this good? The Chev is rolling on a set of 15-inch Astro Supremes and whitewall rubber. As the car is on club rego, you’ll need to sort your own registration. When you have rock-stock 50s and 60s Holdens being offered for similar money, the Bel Air looks like excellent value.
THOMPSON GUN
CRAIG Thompson is one of Queensland’s Pro Street originals. He’s currently got this VB Commodore up for grabs, and as you’d suspect, it is no slouch. The car is packing an LS1 conversion, complete with the factory ECU and a T04Z single turbo. The power goes down through a TH350 auto, two-piece tailshaft and a nine-inch diff with 35-spline axles and Truetrac differential. Rims are 15×10 and 15×6 Rodlites and there is a half-’cage as well. Running on E85, the car has pulled a best of 9.75@135mph. No price advertised, dammit.
CORT IN THE ACT
YOU can still pick up late-model Cortinas for under $10K, but you’d need to be pretty handy to take one and get it looking as good as this TE. As well as what looks like a pretty flash paintjob, there is a mild 250ci crossflow under the bonnet and a new interior inside. The seller is asking $15K or to swap with cash towards an XR-XY Falcon.
