Kev Campbell’s 1959 Ford Zephyr Mk2 is getting a turbo Barra swap, TH400 trans, and modern comforts for street and Drag Challenge duties. Here’s his brief story of where the build is up to.

“This is my 1959 Ford Zephyr Mk2, which I’m in the process of doing a turbo Barra conversion on, with the aim of making the car a tidy streeter and Drag Challenge contender.

“So far, I’ve modified it with homemade chassis rails, an R31 Skyline front end, and a removable chrome-moly rollcage. The rest of the driveline will be a TH400 trans with a manual valvebody and transbrake, and a diff with a Truetrac centre and 31-spline billet axles.

“It’ll also have all the luxuries like air conditioning and power windows and steering, so it should be a nice cruiser!

“Right now, the engine is going in for machining, and we also still have to finish the trim, build and fit the engine and gearbox, get the brain-box wired, and many more jobs.”
