Jamie Tenikoff
Nissan Skyline R33

“I own this 1995 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T Series 1.5, which I purchased as a rough drift car and restored to a clean OEM+ street car. As part of that, it had a closed-door respray, for which I did 70-plus hours of paint prep myself.

“It’s also had a stack of mechanical work done, and has been tuned to make a safe 330rwhp on 15psi. It does so with the help of a Kinugawa TD06 turbo, HKS Hi-Power exhaust, ARP head studs and metal head gasket, GReddy front-mount intercooler, Nismo 550cc injectors, a Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump, Splitfire coil packs, an A’PEXi cold-air intake and a Nistune ECU.
“Other cool bits include coil-overs, HICAS lockout bar, chrome SSR SP1wheels, a Nismo old-logo dash cluster, full Type-M bodykit, rare factory-option Momo steering wheel and so on.

“I’ve put a lot of work into this car, most of which isn’t glaringly obvious, but if it’s not noticeable, then I’ve done my job!”

Holden VP Commodore Vacationer

“For my 16th birthday, a family friend gifted me a 1984 Toyota Corona with the 2.0 and five-speed manual. It was a one-owner, low-mileage car that had been sitting in a farm shed for the past 15 years.
“My dad walked me through the process of cutting and plating the rust, then bogging, sanding, taping and spraying the car.

“I drove it to and from school in Year 12, but then one day I was rear-ended on my way to uni by a car doing an estimated 80km/h!

“I was in hospital for two days, but I was lucky to not have any major injuries.
“There is still some PTSD – I’m still nervous when I pull up at lights, watching the rear-view mirror just in case.
“I had shared the build of the Corona in a Facebook group called ‘Legends in our own Lunchtimes’, and when they found out about the accident, they rallied around me and started a GoFundMe for a new car.

“Not only that, but one of the members lived a couple of hours away from us, and donated his one-owner VP Commodore Vacationer wagon to help get me back on the road.
“I am eternally grateful to everyone involved, and I am already making plans to respray the VP and give it the love it deserves!”

1976 Chevrolet C20

“Here is my 1976 Chevrolet C20, which I got out of Melbourne a bit over a year ago. It’s been resprayed in Mint Julep green.

“Under the bonnet sits a mild 427ci big-block Chev, backed by a Turbo 400 and a 14-bolt diff.

“It sits on a pair of Hoosier 31×12.5 tyres wrapped around 16x8in Center Line billets in the rear, and the fronts are 235s.
“It also features a set of Ridetech tubular control arms under the front.

“Inside the cab is a reupholstered bench seat, with a leather-covered dash, billet steering wheel and a 5in Monster tacho retrofitted into the factory dash.”

1969 Datsun 1600

“I own a 1969 Datsun 1600 with a Series 5 13B rotary turbo conversion. The motor is ported and dowelled, and was built by Parker Rotorsport in Adelaide.
“It has a Pulsar S475 turbo and a 48mm ProGate wastegate, 1000cc primary injectors and 2000cc main injectors.

“It makes 335rwhp on 7psi of boost, but I’m hanging to wind it up to 470-540rwhp. It has a PWR intercooler and a 3.5in dump pipe running into a twin 2.5in system.
“It also uses a Link Monsoon ECU with Link aftermarket gauges. Inside, it has Bride front seats and an aftermarket steering wheel.

“The gearbox is an FC RX-7 five-speed, and out back is an R180 diff. The whole car sits on coil-overs, using an S13 front end, with Wilwood front brakes and R31 Skyline brakes in the rear.
“The body is pretty original, with patina and rust, but that’s what I like about it! Finally, the wheels are 15×8 fronts and 15×9 rears.”
Mark Hughes
2010 FPV F6 Typhoon

“I bought this car stock-standard from Tasmania at the end of 2022 as a clean, low-mileage example. I started out doing the typical bolt-ons, achieving good power.
“As most do, I decided that wasn’t enough, so the car has snowballed into the build it is today.

“The goal was a 1000hp street car that is still 100 per cent street-driven, that I can drive to work, to the track, and back home with a/c, cruise control, leather seats, and all the modern-day comforts in something that is quiet and looks essentially standard.
“The engine uses Spool rods, CP pistons, an Atomic girdle, half grout-filled block, fire rings, Turello Racing TR2 camshafts, head studs, a ported head and a Turello Racing Stage 4 ZF six-speed transmission.

“For fuelling, it has a Plazmaman Triple Pierberg surge tank and fuel rail, upgraded fuel lines and 1650cc injectors. The turbo is a PSR G42-1450, sitting on an SDF exhaust manifold and using a Turbosmart 50mm gate with a 4in dump.
“The ECU is a Haltech Elite Plug-In PRO, with a whole range of Haltech sensors. The car now makes 1025rwhp at 40psi of boost, and I love taking it roll racing and the drags!”

Mazda 929

“This is my Mazda 929, done as an RX-4 mock-up. I bought it as a rust-bucket when I was 16, and I’ve been doing it up ever since.

“It runs a 13B turbo with a MicroTech LT-10 ECU and the full bridgeport set-up.

“It has been mini-tubbed with a 9in diff, and the custom interior features HSV Coulson front seats.”
