Brian Delarue and Craig Millar were rocking the toughest little Torry at Chopped 2024. It fooled many punters who heard an angry car coming only to turn their heads and see a junkyard refugee. “I built it for burnouts and all that sort of stuff years ago,” Brian said.
“Then it sat beside the shed at home for almost 20 years and the rats got into it. Someone suggested we take it to Chopped. I’d never thought of that, ’cause we always come down to the event.
Originally a four-pot, the LC runs a nasty, tunnel-rammed 327 Chev, backed by a Powerglide and BorgWarner diff. A set of fat chrome widies live out back, fitted with old speedway tyres.
“We only got it running on Thursday,” said Brian. “We drove it around the paddock a couple of times, then brought it here and hoped for the best.”
“I had three races and won all three, although it kept running out of fuel. Then Craig drove it, and the brakes started locking on! That made it hard to get off the line [laughs].
“We’ve had a couple of small fires in it; hopefully the rain will wash the extinguisher powder off.”
