“I BOUGHT my Tonner two years ago when I was 16. It’s since had a full cab-off, bare-metal resto. I put a flat back wall in it and a new plenum and sills, using a couple of spare HQs.
This article on Jack’s Tonner was first published in the July 2019 issue of Street Machine
I had it painted in VK Formula Blue, and it has a 3.3-litre straight-six out of a VC Commodore, with an Aussie four-speed gearbox and 3.55:1 Salisbury diff out back.
I love it because there’s not too many P-platers driving around in an HQ as their daily driver.
I’d like to thank my dad for helping build it, Garner Restorations for painting it, Bell Upholstery, and Mum for letting me keep the spare wrecks in the backyard.”
