Holden HX Sandman tribute
“I’ve been busy building an HX Sandman tribute with a couple of mates, and I’m happy to say it’s nearly done.

“It was originally a WB van with a 202 and three-speed manual, but it now runs a built, iron-block 6.0L LY6 with forged internals and a BTR turbo cam, force-fed by a rear-mounted Precision 7675 turbo. A Haltech Rebel LS ECU with flex-fuel capability will run the show.
“Behind the engine is a TCI StreetFighter TH400 trans and converter, an alloy tailshaft, and a shortened 9in diff with 3.25:1 gears, Truetrac and 31-spline axles.

“The body has been restored and painted Panama Green with blue Sandman livery. The retrimmed interior houses a GTS dash and steering wheel, SAAS gauges, and Vintage Air air con.
“Underneath, there’s a tubular front end with coil-overs, rack-and-pinion steering with an Astra pump, and WB Statesman discs all ’round, and it rolls on 15×6 and 15×8 GTS wheels.”

HZ Holden

“I have an HZ Holden I’ve been building for eight years, and I’m finally in the finishing stages. The car has had a full bare-metal rotisserie resto, with everything either refurbed or replaced. It’s powered by an LS1, backed by a 4L60E trans and VN Commodore BorgWarner diff, and it runs disc brakes all ’round.

“Inside, it will have VF SS front and rear seats trimmed in original GTS material (with custom rear seat work by Cam at CJ Trim Co), Speedhut gauges, a small stereo system, and Vintage Air air con. I’m building the car to drive, so it has to be comfortable and look just how I want it to.

“I’ve done 99 per cent of the work myself, with the exception of building the diff. That includes the engine, gearbox (with help from my old man), rewiring the entire car with the help of my mate Steve, and all paint and panel. I’m hoping to have it all finished and ready for cruising early this year!”

Hillman Hunter

“I thought you might be interested in my 1971 Hillman Hunter, which for the past five years has been getting rebuilt by Hotrod Heaven in Ashhurst, New Zealand.

“It has a twin-turbo LS2 in a full custom chassis, four-link suspension, Wilwood disc brakes and a custom-built fuel tank. In fact, pretty much everything is custom, with not a single moving part of the original vehicle being used.
“We’re hoping to have it finished by mid-2025.”

Ford XE Falcon

“This is my 1984 XE Falcon S-Pack. I’m building it into a nice, high-powered street car. I just got done doing all the suspension and steering, and installing all-new brakes, so now it’s ready for the mighty 351 Cleveland heart to go in, backed by a C4 auto.
“Oh, the doggo in the pic is my little helper, Moose!”
