Nathan Micallef
1948 Morris Minor

“I wanted to share my 1948 Morris Minor two-door build, which I call ‘Arnold’.

“It sits on a full custom HiLux chassis that has been narrowed, shortened and stepped in the rear. Underneath is a modified Gemini front end with rack-and-pinion steering, and a HiLux rear end with custom-made ladder bars and coil-overs, and it runs custom-machined disc brakes all ’round.

“The 4/71-blown Holden straight-six that now lives in the engine bay sends power rearwards via a full-manual Trimatic. It rolls on 15×4 and 15×8.5 American Racing wheels.
“I’ll have it all finished soon, and it will be on the road by the middle of the year.”
Letterio Caruso
Holden VC Commodore

“I bought my 1980 VC Commodore at age 16 in March 2020, and over the past five years, it’s been undergoing a nut-and-bolt restoration.

“It’s been bare-metal resprayed in the factory Firethorn Red, the engine bay has been smoothed, and a brand-new interior in Carmine Red has been added.

“The custom boot installation includes twin Kicker sub-woofers, a 16in TV monitor screen, and laser-engraved boot mirrors.

“The factory blue 202ci six has been replaced by a very blingy, built Holden 383 stroker, backed by a built Turbo 400.

“It’s taken a lot of very hectic and meticulous work to get the car where it is today, but it’s now around 99 per cent complete.

“There’s a few finishing touches to still go on, but at least the hard parts are done!”
Timothy Cooke
Dodge AT4 truck

“This is my 1973 Dodge AT4 truck. It started its life as a full-size 575 AT4, but I decided it was too big for my plans and have thrown it on a 1960s International chassis.

“I’ve added a modified L300 disc-brake front end and an AU one-tonner rear diff and suspension set-up. I then set about freshening up the factory 245 Hemi engine, adding a 6PK serpentine belt conversion for the supercharger I hope to add in the future.

“It now runs four-wheel disc brakes, power steering and air con, and there’s plenty more to come!”
Alex Howell
Ford XT Falcon

“Here is my build of a 1969 XT Falcon 500, which was sold at Burnie Ford in Tasmania as a Polar White, V8, three-speed manual car.

“It was poorly restored in the early 1990s, which has been hard to rectify, but at least it kept her alive until I purchased it in 2019.
“Once it was in the shed, I stripped it for a full rebuild and paintjob, doing everything myself. I’m restoring it to factory specs all ’round, bar the Quick Fuel carby and an Edlebrock Performer manifold and extractors.

“She’s got plenty of grunt and will be great fun to drive with the three-on-the-tree manual ’box.”
Troy Newman
Holden VG Commodore ute

“I’m building a VG Commodore ute that I’ve converted to a VN and named VNDETTA. It’s painted in VN SS Atlas Grey, with a reverse-cowl scoop custom-painted black with a red pinstripe.

“The engine is an LS1 on methanol, backed by a Powerglide. It’s mini-tubbed, runs four-link suspension, and the BorgWarner diff has been shortened to suit the 15×10 Street Pro wheels.

“Inside, there’s two Kirkey bucket seats retrimmed in the VN SS factory colours and style, as well as a ratchet shifter, Emtron dash and billet buttons.
“It will be up and running in time for Summernats 38!”
Troy Sultana
Toyota HiLux

“This is my Toyota HiLux, which I’ve owned for 15 years. It’s currently going through its second major build, this time for skids and cruising at events like Summernats and Powercruise.

I started the build with a complete, custom engine bay, and I also made the frame and floor and my own hinges for the suicide doors, added frenched Cadillac tail-lights, and completely shaved the body. As a panel beater and spray painter, I was able to do all that at home in the shed, with no fancy tooling.

It’ll be powered by a built, tunnel-rammed LS2 with twin carbies, running E85, and behind it will be a two-speed Powerglide from Shift Right Transmissions and a shortened HiLux diff.

The body has been dropped 5in, and it sits on airbag suspension and 20in Simmons rims all ’round, with 20x14s under the tubbed rear end. I should have it finished and ready for Summernats 38.”
