Doin’ it for dad: Angus Cullen-Falconer sets upon restoring a piece of family history with the aim of driving it again with the man who started it all. Here’s his brief story.

“My WB ute was my dad’s first-ever car. He bought it off a friend way back when and drove it with the 253 until he lost too many comps at the B&S balls.

“The 253 then made way for a 308 and an Aussie four-speed manual. It only got a few years of fun before he started an ambitious rebuild, which happened to coincide with the birth of his first son – me!

“This, along with his farming-related responsibilities, meant the project stayed in the open shed partially stripped for 20-odd years.

“My earliest memories of it are ripping around the farm with no paint, doors, windows or seats. After all that time, I made the commitment to start the build again from scratch.

“It’s an incredibly special ute that deserves to be back on the road. I cannot wait to drive it around with the old man again.”
