“This old girl was a work ute on a vineyard not far from Melbourne, from 1968 all the way to 2019, which is when I bought it.

“It did have a canopy on it for most of that time, which saved the car from rust, so it was in overall good condition.

“She was a six-cylinder car with a three-on-the-tree, but I decided it might be time to give her a birthday.
“So, it got a bare-metal respray in Polar White, and Simon Hollingworth from SJH Race Engines hooked me up with a Cleveland-based 351, stroked out to 408 cubes.

“It uses CHI aluminium 3V heads, a CHI Dominator single-plane intake, custom solid-roller cam, and a 1000cfm APD billet Enforcer carby. It made 440rwhp on the chassis dyno, and it loves to rev!
“The transmission is a built C4 with a 5000rpm TCE converter, and Chris’s Diffs built a 9in for it, with full Calvert suspension front and rear.

“It has done a handful of passes, the best so far being a 10.58@129mph. It sits on the timeless Center Line rims, with 255/60 Mickey Thompson meats in the rear.”
