Plenty of fun times to be had in the world of cars this weekend

THIS weekend the Australian Pro Street Association drag series heads to Sydney Dragway for the grand final shootout round. The event is being held all day Saturday and while the winners in some of the classes have already been decided, there are still a few close battles going on that will be won or lost on Saturday.

LX Torana Hatch Drag Race 3184 NwThere’s also quarter-mile action at Willowbank on Saturday with the final round of the Queensland Drag Racing Championships. Outlaw, Modified, Super Street and Modified Bike classes will be hammering down the track all day, with the winners awarded their trophies at the end of the night. Kids can get in for free, and it’ll cost adults $20 each to spectate.

Drag racing continues on Sunday in Victoria with the Heathcote Park test and tune session. As usual, cars will run from 11am until 4pm and it’ll cost $60 to drive your car, $20 to spectate and kids get in for free.

FEAR Monaro 148One of Western Australia’s biggest burnout competitions is set to tear up some treads this weekend. Over 130 cars have entered the Narrogin Revheads this year, and there’s over $15,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. The burnouts will be running on Friday and Saturday, while a show ’n’ shine event will also take place on Saturday and is open to all types of cars, from classics to modern muscle and exotics. It all happens in the town of Narrogin, around 200km south-east of Perth. Check out the Narrogin Revheads website for more details.

HQ Holden 336They’ll be rocking around the clock in Petrie, north of Brisbane, on Saturday, with the Sims Rock ’n’ Roll Show ’n’ Shine. It’s open to old-school and modern muscle cars and custom bikes, and a live rock ’n’ roll band will be playing throughout the day. The action kicks off at midday and finishes around 6pm; entry costs $10 per car.

Chev Bubble TopThe 60s American Muscle Car Club’s American Breed car show is on this Sunday at the Manhattan Hotel in Ringwood, Victoria. All American cars and rods are welcome to join and gates open for the show cars at 8am, while the public can come in for a gander from 10am onwards. Show cars will be asked for a $5 donation.

The Rodstock car show and swap meet is also on Sunday in Luddenham, NSW. There should be a good variety of cars on display with the event open to muscle cars, rods, customs, street machines and more. There’ll also be live bands, trade stalls and amusement rides for the kids. Public entry is a gold coin donation, while $10 will get your car in the show ’n’ shine.
