MARK ‘HAPPY’ WILLIAMS

HOLDEN HQ ONE-TONNER

MAR 17

NINE years in the build, Mark ‘Happy’ Williams’s tough Quey runs a ProCharged and intercooled 406-cube small-block Chev, and was built as an all-rounder.

He proved that by cleaning up in the driving events at Summernats 30, where, combined with a top score in the Elite judging, he bagged the coveted Grand Champion sword, the first West Australian to do so. It was a bittersweet victory for Happy, as his dad, who put a lot of work into the HQ, passed away on the Friday of Summernats.

Mark swapped his 2HAPPY number plates to 4MYDAD as a tribute. “I know he would have been smiling watching down on me,” he said. Too right!
