ADELAIDE AUTO EXPO 2017 - RESULTS

THE Street Machine team is in Adelaide for the start of Drag Challenge on Monday, so we were stoked to be able to check out the Adelaide Auto Expo.

The top debut car was undoubtedly Richard and Lynda Townsend's 1933 Chevrolet tudor, dubbed Bad Apple.

Best Judged Hot RodBuilt in a wild 60s show car-meets-gasser style, the Chev swept all before it when the awards were handed out. The gongs included Best Judged Hot Rod, Coolest Ride, Best Hot Rod Undercarriage and a Megiuar's MotorEx nomination.

The tudor runs an injected 400ci Chev, Powerglide and 12-bolt diff. The wild paint was handled by Adam Bakurski and the trim was done by Darren Cranwell.

Simon Mokdassi's XYKING took out Best Street Machine - Street Elite, as well as Top Display, Top Interior and Top Engine Bay,

Angelo Francesca's 1967 Pontiac Firebird won Best Street Machine - Street.

Frank Navacci's VC Valiant won the Judge's Choice gong:

David Scholz's chopped XP Falcon won a MotorEx pick and third place in the Elite Top Five.

The other MotorEx nomination for Street Machine was Michael Ellard's Rodeo, which placed second in the Elite Top Five.

First place in the Elite Top Five was Graeme Barker's L67-powered FX Holden ute, which also won Top Engine Bay, Top Interior and Top Paint and Top Body.

David Murphy's Y-block powered Deluxe Rod Shop-built '32 roadster took out a MotorEx nomination and fourth spot in the Elite Top Five.

The HK Monaro from Pro Customs won the Promotor's Choice award in the Tuff Street class:

Brad Phillips's bad-arse VN SS won Toughest Overall and Top Innovation in Tuff Street:

Blake Evans's LC Torana is fast and cool, but we're not sure it was the right car to win the Ultimate Sleeper prize in Tuff Street. Surely that should have gone to the Turbo Taxi?

Andrew Mitchell's Lincoln Zephyr won Best Custom, Best Body and Interior in the Hot Rod class and Top Five in Hot Rod.

The show climaxed with a Zippel Cruise, with hundreds of American cars participating.
