Queensland Raceway played host to a day’s drag and roll racing in early October, as the Growl Racing Club Battle day took the stage.

Put on by Chris and Amanda Morris from Growl Racing, the event showcased a big variety of cars on display and in the drags, from high-powered muscle cars, Japanese classics and just about everything in between.

Racing was broken into two classes, the Next Level and Tuff Daily categories. Next Level was for the serious machinery, while the Tuff Daily was for cars with 700hp or less.

As for the competition format, Growl Racing chose a slightly different one for this event. Combatants were awarded points for each race win, ensuring each run was as important as the next.

In the finals, Jacob Morgan-Briggs and his turbo LS-powered VL Commodore took home the top silverware over Dylan Walton’s F6 FPV.

As for the Tuff Daily category, Michael Zdraveski’s 13B turbo-powered KE20 Corolla claimed victory, while Mitchell Kerlin in the green turbo Barra-swapped Cortina earned the runner-up spot.

Beyond the track, the show and shine was well packed with plenty of Queensland’s finest. Shayne Careless’s HT Holden took home the Best in Show award, while Nathan Peters’ Valiant and Sonia Mitchell-Harward’s Holden Commodore received accolades for Best Paint and Best Interior, respectively.

Brodie Glendinning’s Nissan 350ZX was recently entered in our 2023 Milwaukee Young Street Machine of the Year, and took out Best Engine Bay at the event.
