MICHAEL ‘Gup’ Gilbert’s Powercruise celebrated its 50th event this past weekend at Queensland Raceway. The Street Machine team arrived on the Friday to find the show already well underway.
One of the special features of this year’s show was free drag racing at the neighbouring Willowbank Raceway, for drivers and spectators alike. This saw the staging lanes jammed full of cars, from high-end race cars to average punters having their first lash.
Big crowds packed the circuit track on the Saturday – not surprising with the quality of entrants on display, including some high-end cars like the Rides By Kam twin-ProCharged Nova, Brock Mahoney’s XC coupe and Zane Hau’s Plymouth Satellite.
For the action side of things, there were all the usual Powercruise attractions, including burnouts, drifting, powerskids, off-street drags, and the opportunity to ride in some of Gup’s personal cars and even a twin-seat Top Fueler!
The next Powercruise event is at Barbagallo Raceway, 9-12 October. For info, check out www.powercruise.com.
