A stunning LX Holden Torana hatch that goes hard with Holden V8 power

IT’S a big call to make, but Brodie Olsen’s LX Torana hatch was quite possibly the best presented car at Street Machine Drag Challenge Weekend 2108. With arrow-straight bodywork, flawless paint and a sumptuous custom interior, it’s an absolute stunner.

But it’s more than just a pretty face; the car ran the nines on a 235/60/15 radial with a naturally aspirated plastic powerplant – seriously impressive form in the Pacemaker Radial Aspirated class.

Holden LX Torana engine bayThe motor is a 383-cuber, backed by a Turbo 350 transmission and a nine-inch diff; a brand-new combo that casually rattled off a 9.85@137mph on Day One at Willowbank straight off the bat, and went on to earn Brodie third in class for the event – and the Quickest Holden-powered gong.

“My mates Mark and Ian Stewart built the car about 12-15 years ago, and I’ve owned it for seven years now,” said Brodie. “It originally ran 11.0s and I’ve gradually stepped it up over the years. The car ran faultlessly, and the cruising was mad; good times.

Now Brodie is back for another swing at Drag Challenge Weekend, 27-29 November. The hatch now boasts a 9.78-second PB and should be a competitive force in Tuff Mounts 235 Aspirated class. You can check out the full entry list here.
