The penultimate day of racing for Drag Challenge 2026 presented by VPW Australia saw us at Davison Motors Sunset Strip just outside of Mildura for some ripper twilight eighth-mile racing.

Overcast but warm conditions headlined the day, and despite the threat of rain, we got through until the cutoff at 9pm without any weather or breakage delays, competitors getting more than enough time to get a stack of runs on the board.

While we didn’t see a fabled four second pass from the evening, Brandon Zito left us with blue balls on the quickest pass of the day with a 5.00 flat ET on his second run, helping him maintain his overall and in Speed Pro Radial Blown.

The second quickest pass of the day went to Luke Foley and his VH Commodore, hitting the lanes several times to eke his way down to a 5.08. That was enough to leapfrog him into second place overall and in Speed Pro Radial Blown.

Barry Hall struggled with traction on all his runs, the best of the lot stopping the clocks at a 5.42 on his first pass. His best was a 5.17, maintaining fifth overall and top spot in ITF Hire Outlaw Blown.

A 5.27 for Nathan Rainbird in his VK Commodore unfortunately saw him drop to third spot overall, followed by Louis Younis a 5.14, so the pace is heating up in the top of the standings!

We’re racing today back at Victorian Motorsports Park for the finale. Doors open 12pm, racing from 3pm — 9pm, you can grab tickets at the gate or at dragchallenge.com.au
