The race for Drag Challenge 2026 presented by VPW Australia is on, and boy is it hotting up! Some big cars are coming out of the woodwork, including a new big-block combo for Richard Collins HK Premier that just cracked 2000kW!
We’ve featured the full-fat HK in the magazine twice now, first way back in 1989 under previous ownership, and then more recently in Richard’s possession when it was running a Wayne Cartledge-built single turbo small-block Chevy combo, which was good enough for a seven second PB and several 8.00s at Drag Challenge.

However, that wasn’t enough. Richard skipped last year’s DC in an effort to rebuild this car as what it is now, a 2000kW, Dandy Engines-powered, big-block and twin turbo monster! He is gunning for a red Seven Second Club hat at this year’s event, and we may even see that seven change to a six if things go his way. Watch this space!
