Each and every year, the Summernats team work hard to improve the event and make it more fun for entrants and spectators alike. For 2027, the big news is that we are adding a third pedestrian overpass over the iconic cruise route, this one located near Gate 7. As with the two bridges installed this year, this will only improve the flow of the cruise route and spectator movement around Exhibition Park. Yay!

The fireworks crew are also promising the biggest show ever and the musical entertainment is set to be huge, with The Veronicas, Birds of Tokyo, Playlunch, Sneaky Sound System and Mashd N Kutcher all on board. Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez said the line-up would take the party to another level.

“We’ve got two massive nights of Aussie music lined up,” Lopez said. “On Friday night The Veronicas, Birds of Tokyo and Playlunch are rocking it out on the main stage, and then Saturday night is one huge party with Sneaky Sound System and Mashd N Kutcher’s Anthems show. It’s going to be a heap of fun.”

The Veronicas need little introduction. With billions of streams, 16 Australian Top 10 singles and two decades of touring the world, Jess and Lisa Origliasso have built a catalogue packed with some of Australia’s biggest pop hits. Untouched, 4ever, Everything I’m Not and You Ruin Me are just some of the tracks they’ll bring to Canberra, with Untouched recently voted the third-greatest Australian song of
all time in Triple j’s Hottest 100 of Australian Songs.

Perth Rockers Birds of Tokyo have spent more than a decade taking their massive anthems to some of the biggest stages in the country, from the AFL Grand Final and State of Origin to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. With a catalogue featuring Plans, Lanterns, Good Lord and more, they’re built for big stages and huge crowds.

Rounding out Friday night is Playlunch, the self-proclaimed founders of “Bogan Funk”. Born in a Melbourne share house, the band throws ’90s nostalgia, retro dance music and unapologetic suburban swagger into a blender and somehow comes out with one of Australia’s most ridiculous, and ridiculously fun, live acts. Their track Keith has clocked millions of streams and landed at #4 in Triple j’s Hottest 100.

“We played Rockynats a few years ago and it was an absolute ripper, proper chaos, exactly our vibe. So getting the call for Summernats felt like unfinished business, honestly,” Playlunch frontman Liam Bell said. “Bogan Funk and burnouts, it just makes sense, we can’t really explain it better than that. Canberra, get your zinc on, we’re coming.”

If Friday night is stacked, Saturday is pure party mayhem. Sneaky Sound System will take over with more than 20 years of disco, house and pop bangers, including UFO, Pictures and I Love It, alongside the club tracks that have kept Miss Connie and Angus McDonald filling dancefloors around the world.

Brisbane electronic duo Mashd N Kutcher will bring Saturday night home with their amazing Anthems show. With more than 1,500 live shows under their belt and multiple platinum records, the guys takes it to another level with the Anthems show when they perform with a full live band playing huge tracks, throwbacks and dancefloor favourites in a massive festival set. Their pandemic-era remix Get on the Beers became a #12 Hottest 100 hit, while their Will It Mash? series has built a huge following by throwing everything from classic hits to modern dance tracks into the musical blender.

Lopez said the music line-up was designed to crank up the party atmosphere across an already massive four days. “I love that feeling when you roll through the gates and you know there are four days of absolute mayhem ahead,” Mr Lopez said. “Thousands of awesome cars and beautiful people, crazy, cool stuff happening everywhere.”
