“I got the Buick around four years ago from a father and son in south-east Melbourne who seemed to import American cars. They’d had it for sale for around 12 months, so I went down there with a trailer and some cash and came back with the car.

“It’s still stock at this stage, running the factory turbocharged 3.8-litre V6. I recently put the Draglite wheels on and lowered it, which just suits a G-body so well.

“Between the wife and me, we tend to get it out and cruise it a fair bit; she took it up to the Bright Rod Run last year and loved it! They cruise a lot like an old Kingswood, but with a better interior, in my opinion.

“It’s off the road right now, as I took the turbo off to get sent back to America and rebuilt. It’ll get that rebuilt turbo, a dump pipe and alcohol injection, so it’ll still be no intercooler, as per factory.

“It already has a Megasquirt ECU on it, and ATS Automatics has built me a 200R4 transmission for it. We’ll hopefully see around 450hp out of the new set-up, and that should get us into the 11s.

“Not bad for a weekend cruiser that’ll still have air con!”
