Samuel Cunningham
1995 Ford DF LTD
“I bought this old thing about 18 months ago from the second owner. It was originally owned by a cashed-up farmer from Geraldton, WA, who used it for trips to and from Perth.

“It was a very original, factory V8 car with an LSD, and had been garaged most of its life, only covering 50,000km over the past 20 years.
“After cruising it standard for a bit, I began to make it my own. I tracked down a rare set of Fairlane Concorde mesh wheels, which set it off perfectly.

“It’s lowered on SL springs in the front and SSLs in the rear, with extended shock hats to retain the factory air shocks, and I hooked up the compressor to a switch, which gives about 1½in of height adjustment.
“I love finding rare genuine accessories for it like the sunvisor and headlight protectors, and I also nabbed a rare wood Momo steering wheel.

“The engine is a bog-standard E-Series Windsor that I have done the typical maintenance to like the water pump and timing cover, and it does have a single 2.5in exhaust system and Pacemaker headers to let it breathe.

“After having it fully detailed, I’m stoked with how it sits, and it’s a perfect weekend cruiser.”
Tommy Barton
1990 Nissan Skyline

“I bought my 1990 Nissan Skyline R31 GXE nearly a year ago at the age of 17. It started its life as a mid-spec GXE, but it’s now far from that.

“I’ve added a lot of parts from Japanese-market R31s such as original URAS eyelid headlights and Passage ‘Afterburner’ tail-lights, and given the driveline an overhaul.
“The RB30 now has a nice lumpy camshaft in it, and it’s backed by a beefier RB25 manual gearbox from an R33 Skyline, and a KAAZ LSD centre in the BorgWarner diff. It sits slammed on a set of BC Racing coil-overs and 14×9.5 SSR Mk1 wheels.

“Inside, the whole lot has been converted to a Passage interior, including seats, door trims, centre console and dash, and finished off with a Silhouette three-spoke steering wheel. It’s great fun for a P-plate rig!”
Kye Tanner
Holden VR Commodore
“This 1993 VR BT-1 started life as a police pursuit weapon, running the tough and reliable Holden 304ci V8 paired with a T5 five-speed manual.

“It’s still got that no-nonsense, stripped-back feel the BT-1 packs were known for, built for high-speed durability and taking a beating. The car pulls hard, sounds tough, and keeps the old-school Aussie V8 spirit alive.
“From chasing crims to turning heads, this thing continues to serve the community the right way: smoking tyres and putting a grin on your face every time you row through the gears.”
Peter Bridge
Ford TE Cortina
“I purchased this 1979 Corty in 2020. The body was in good nick, except for the vinyl roof being removed, and it had no front seats.

“Once home with me in Quirindi, I stripped the inside. Being a motor trimmer, I replaced the hoodlining and re-covered the dash pad, console, rear-seat door cards and so on. I went to the local AutoBarn, bought two new Autotecnica bucket seats and re-covered them to match the rest of the trim.
“As for the engine, it’s a 4.1L alloy-head crossflow six from an XF Falcon, with a Holley 350 carby and extractors. The gearbox is a four-speed single-rail.
“A year or two on from the first part of the build, I met James Wilson, who had an XL wagon that he asked me to retrim. Seeing his awesome paintwork on the XL got me thinking the Corty would look great with a new paintjob.
“James then brought in an EH panel van to retrim, so we decided to do a trade – a retrim of the EH in return for James painting the Cortina, and both jobs turned out fantastic.”
Byron Habermann
Holden HT Premier

“Here’s my HT Holden Premier, which has not long been finished.
“The car was mostly built in the shed by me, my brother and my old man as a family project, including the panel and paint.

“As for the driveline, it’s running a 420-cube small-block Chevy with a solid-roller stick.
“It uses a Powerglide ’box with a 5000rpm converter, and we tubbed the rear end, which has a 9in diff.”

1989 BMW 318i E30

“I have a 1989 BMW E30 318i, a childhood dream car that I made come true 2½ years ago!

“I bought it from Melbourne to bring home to Adelaide – it’s in the rare E30 colour of Mineralblau and in great condition, so I knew I had to get my hands on it.

“I have done a full rebuild on the suspension and braking systems, and given it a five-stud conversion to accommodate a set of genuine BBS wheels.

“It also has a custom cat-back exhaust, and I have a lot in store for her, including an interior overhaul and a spicy engine and transmission swap in the future.”
