2017 SEMA SHOW LIVE – DAY ONE

With 140,000 spectators at the SEMA Show over the week, it can be hard to get a good look at the cars. So we hung back to to check out some of the highlights in the main hall

SEMA was rammed today, so we waited until after the doors shut to go live from the main hall. The car we started with was Sam Morris’s insane 1993 Mazda RX-7.

We first spied Sam’s RX-7 on his @gooichimotors Instagram page. We’ll do an in-depth video on this car later in the week, but briefly, Sam converted the Mazda to LS power 11 years ago. He’s been refining it ever since and now it is running a 408ci motor, based on a LQ9 iron block.

Hot-up gear includes a giant Borg Warner turbo, a Shaun’s Custom Alloy intake manifold, Haltech ECU and Turbosmart goodies. Yep, this car is full of Aussie performance gear! Behind the LS is a highly-modified Spec 25 Muncie four-speed (yep!) and and 8.8-inch Ford diff.

A Rocket Bunny kit takes care of most of the body mods and the rims measure up at 18×15.5-inches at the front and 18×11.5-inches at the rear.

We also check out Jeff Lutz’s Mad Max Camaro, the Rob Ida-built Tucker Torpedo and more!
