WHEN IT comes to chasing streetable horsepower, nothing beats a turbocharged V8. Modern turbocharger and engine management technology has progressed so far that it’s easy to make 1000hp in a street driven pump fuel package. In the latest issue of Street Machine magazine we check out Adam Styles twin-turbo 1970 LC Torana, but before that we watched his twin-turbo 6-litre V8 being put through its paces on the engine dyno to see how much horsepower it makes. Running on E98 ethanol the screaming V8 makes an easy 1300hp, but during this testing video they were limited to just 1120hp while tuning. That’s only 4x as much as your average Holden Commodore!
