THE burnout brigade celebrated Good Friday the only way it knows how; with Good Fryday burnouts at Sydney Dragway of course! The event saw plenty of big name cars, plus for the first time, a ladies-only class with eight or so girls keen to have a skid. The winner was decided by crowd response and Britt Kilby was crowned the winner with her LS-powered Daihatsu Feroza.

In the main comp there were loads of tough cars, including Farmtruck and AZN’s Skid Truck. The Skid Truck was built for Summernats early this year where it copped an absolute beating – this is the first time we’ve seen it in action since. Reigning Summernats Burnout Champion Phil Kerjean (TUFFST) took it for a spin and kept it in one piece.

The Sydney Dragway burnout pad is one of the bigger ones commonly used for skid comps and it means the drivers are often very ambitious about the speed of their tip ins. Good Fryday was no different; we saw some absolutely mental tip ins. Chris Genter in FROMHELL came in very hot and ended up giving the tyre wall a nudge, while Stephen Marsh in IH8FDS and Rick Fuller in LSONE judged it to perfection and both put on a clinic.

Ultimately Rick Fuller in the LSONE VK Commodore won the event, while second place went to Stephen Marsh in the IH8FDS VE Commodore. Third place went to Michael Pratten in the SPASTIC blown VX Commodore. The four and six-cylinder class win went to Harry Seaman in the HAZARD VK Commodore.
