THOMAS Radosavlievic’s Chrysler Centura is one hell of a sleeper. This street driven ’75 model is powered by the old much maligned 215-cube six-pot with a turbo bolted onto an otherwise pretty standard block. It’s got upgraded head and main studs, and Crow cam with a Garrett GT35 snail running around 20psi and an E85 Quickfuel 650 blow-though system. No upgraded pistons or rods! Surprisingly, it’s a setup that seems to be fairly reliable too; Thomas reckons it has hung together for around three years of road and track abuse and is still going strong.
The motor is hooked up to a Powerglide transmission and beefed up Borg Warner diff, otherwise it’s all standard ’75 Centura. Thomas built the car himself with the help of his brothers, he reckons he’ll just keep leaning on the combo until something goes bang.
So far it has been good for a PB of 10.81 @ 126mph and it gets driven to and from the track. We met Thomas at Heathcote Park a few weekends ago where he was crashing the Ford Forum drags and doing some testing. Aside from drinking heaps of juice the car drove up from Langwarrin without any dramas and ran a 10.91 @ 128mph at the track.
