JOHN Mawhinney’s black, blown ’57 Chev street car is an absolute stunner. This thing’s packing 1000hp of blown Chevy goodness and has laid down a 9.83@139mph in full street trim.

The ’57 was originally John’s dad’s car; John took ownership of it when his father passed away. At the time it had a blown 383 and ran a best of 10.80, but the motor gave up during John’s first drive in the beast, forcing him to start fresh with a new set-up. That’s when the blown 400-cube Dart-block V8 came onto the scene, along with a host of other major modifications.
