IN CASE you missed the memo, HSV is now importing the Chevrolet Camaro and Silverado models into Australia and converting them to right-hand drive for the local market. While the Camaro is still a little while away, today HSV announced pricing and specifications for the Silverado pick-up.

We’ll be getting a variety of 2500HD models, and the big-boy dually-equipped 3500HD as the range-topper. All models get the same 6.6-litre Duramax turbo-diesel V8 making 332kW and 1234Nm, Allison six-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes and heavy-duty locking rear differential. The differences in trim levels bring upgraded interior luxuries and styling equipment.

Starting at $114,990, the 2500HD WT is the entry-level offering. HSV calls it the ‘work truck’ of the line-up, fitted with steelie wheels, and a front bench for six-seat capacity. While it’s the base-model of the line-up, you still get features like seven-inch touchscreen infotainment and reverse camera.

Stepping up to the $134,990 2500HD LTZ adds 18-inch chrome alloy wheels, 10-way power-adjustable leather seats, power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote vehicle start and eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with eight-speaker Bose audio.

The LTZ also comes with the Z71 mechanical upgrade, which adds 35mm twin-tube Rancho gas-charged shock absorbers, 33.6mm front stabiliser bar, under-body transfer-case shield and hill-descent control. Safety features include forward collision alert, lane departure warning and front and rear park-assist.

HSV will also offer the LTZ Midnight Edition for $139,990, available exclusively in black – black 18-inch alloys, black bumpers, black grille, black body side mouldings, black Chev badging and black headlamp bezels.

Also $139,990, the Custom Sport Edition is based on a white LTZ with 20-inch polished alloys, white bumpers and white grille.

Topping the Silverado range is the $147,990 3500HD LTZ, which mirrors the specification of the other LTZ models but is equipped with dual rear wheels and a longer tub.

HSV expects the Silverado 2500 will be certified in Australia to carry a payload of 975kg and tow up to 5.89 tonnes.
