BURNOUT MASTERS 2017 – THE GOOD OIL

The 2017 Burnout Masters list so far and the comps they'll need to win in order to qualify

BURNOUT Masters is the be-all and end-all when it comes to frying tyres in front of monster crowds, and the 2017 series is going to be bigger than ever.

It all started with Summernats 30 where the top five in the Burnout Masters earned a spot in the Street Machine Summernats 31 competition. Throw in the top three from the Summernats Burnout Championship, and then there’s eight ‘golden tickets’ already taken for next year.

The West Australians will have first crack at what is left when Gazzanats WA fires up on March 3-5; the winners of both the blown and naturally aspirated competitions will score an automatic entry to the Masters at Summernats 31.

One week later the circus swings back east to Lardner Park for Motorfest, where the top two entrants will both score tickets to play with the big boys. Then the party moves back to South Australia a week later to Murray Bridge; joining the Burnout Masters feeder events for the first time. The first place getter from Murray Bridge will score a Burnout Masters slot.

From there it’s on to the big televised shows and there will be three Burnout Masters TV shows this year, not including Summernats itself. The first of these will be Burnout King in Perth on April 14th; the first two blown cars and the top naturally aspirated car will score golden tickets to the big event. It’ll be the same deal for Brashernats on June 11th.

Then Tropical Meltdown (July 29th), Burnout Outlaws (Aug 12th), and Gazzanats Darwin (Aug 19th) all get one ticket each to give away before the focus shifts to Alice Springs for the Red CentreNATS. Any heavy hitters heading to Alice will have three shots at a start in the Burnout Masters, with all three tickets going to the blown class; it’ll also be televised on 7Mate.

After the Red CentreNATS in early September there will be no Burnout Masters qualifying events until Summernats 31 and the Last Chance Wildcard show. So everyone will have plenty of time to make sure their rides are in tip top shape for Australia’s biggest horsepower party.
