The Lions roared in Bendigo for the Sandhurst Holden Club’s All Holden Day

THE Bendigo Sandhurst Holden Club hosted this year’s Poyser Motors Central Victorian All Holden Day on the weekend. A perfect winter’s day saw an abundant turn-out of Lion-badged metal, with Holdens from all over the state rocking up for the show ’n’ shine at Bendigo Showgrounds.

A field of over 400 Holdens meant there was something for every taste, from stock-as-a-rock survivors, revived chrome bumpers, heavily modded street machines and a huge variety of Holden’s most popular production model, the venerable Commodore.

Bendigo’s Jailhouse Rockers Club Inc took punters back to the rock ’n’ roll era with a fantastic dance display, fittingly surrounded by Holdens On Holidays, a collection of cars coupled with vintage caravans, one of which was still fitted out in original condition as displayed back in 1956 for the Melbourne International Motor Show.

Every car on display had its own unique story; some were their owners’ first ride and kept for years in original condition – a few even purchased brand new – while others had been restored with more contemporary components or fully modded to fulfil their owners’ lifelong dreams.

Best Club Display went to the SS Owners Club, with approximately 40 club members’ Commodores on display, while the Lions Pride Holden Club also fared well, taking home plaques for their FC, HR, HQ, VH, VN, Gemini and FJ.
