Found - Mystic Illusions

ONE of the most popular Ford vans of the panel van era was Doug and Janette Cundy’s Mystic Illusions XY.

Red bubble windows, an L88 Corvette bonnet scoop, wild Mark Chrisdale murals and a decadent interior, the van was a standout and picked up many trophies, including wins in the burnout comp at the Valla Park Van Nats.

Doug lost touch with the XY in the mid-80s, but with the revival of interest in all things vanning spurred Doug on to reclaim the shell and to set about building Mystic Illusions 2.

The roller coaster ride of Doug’s life with the van is a great story and you can read it in full in the 300th issue ofStreet Machine, on sale now!
