THE appeal of taking a classic muscle car and stuffing it full of the latest and greatest technology is timeless and these days there is no shortage of cool high-tech engines to slot into your streeter.

In the January 2012 issue of Street Machine, we look at three great examples of the retrotech art form, one from each of the Big Three.

From the Holden camp comes Matthew Klauss’s G-Pak Torana. The beast runs a 427ci LS7 mill, backed by a Tremec TKO five-speed. Big brakes ensures the old girl can pull up, all wrapped in a classic 70s package.

For the Ford fans, we have Clint DiGiovanni’s Capri, powered by a 4.6-litre SVT Cobra DOHC V8. Unlike Matthew’s classic muscle car styling, Clint went for a cutting-edge Pro Touring look that we reckon will be a trendsetter.

Representing the Mopar boys is Bert Pynappel’s CL Charger, a car he has owned since new! These days it not only runs a 5.7-litre V8 from a 300C, but also the big Chrysler’s five-speed auto, seat, dash and anti-lock brakes.
