Cortina Summernats 2

DAVE Xuereb's 1973 TC Cortina was massively outnumbered by Holden Toranas in the Street Machine Summernats Top 60, but swept all before it when the People's Choice votes were tallied.

Dave picked up the car 35 years ago, when he was just 14. He raced back in the Oran Park days against the likes of WOG007, before embarking on a rebuild ten years ago. The results are stunning.

The extensive fabrication work was handled almost exclusively by Dave himself, which includes a super-sanitary engine bay, mini tubs, stunning undercarriage and custom dash.

The Cortina is powered by a C&B Performance 364ci Windsor making 550hp, which is backed by a C4 and Mark Williams nine-inch diff.

The rims are 19x8 and 20x10in Schott billets and the straight red tinter was applied by Rod's Restorations.

Dave would like to thank his wife and kids, his brothers Mark and Paul, Joe Bajada, Paul Sant, sparky Eithan and trim man Loui.
